• Seiter & Miller Advertising was founded in 1990. The next generation took over in 2013, and “creatively” renamed the firm SMA. The same, but different.

  • Turns out the virtual office works pretty well for digital advertising. But but but… we still need to actually get together in an actual office, right? Currently we’re at 2 quasi-kinda-mandatory days in the office, 3 days individual preference. Like everyone else, we’re trying to figure it out.

  • Light on process, heavy on responsibility. We have few formal policies, and instead rely on each person to do what they need to do for our clients to be thrilled, and then some. Our lack of turnover is telling. We must be doing something right.

  • Boozy, backbiting, stressed out – a perfect description of what SMA isn’t. In fact, if fictional DD were to learn about real SMA’s afternoon ice cream runs, he’d probably need another drink.

  • Large accounting firms to small sports drinks and everything in between. Our best clients tend to be those with particularly complex marketing challenges. There are lots of agencies out there; we like to dig in more than most.

Engage. Educate. Motivate.

B2B purchases are driven by the most complex dynamics in marketing. Cost is significant, professional anxiety is high, and evaluation is intense – more so now than ever before. SMA is an integrated all-media agency specializing in B2B sellers and buyers, and the communications strategies required to connect them.

  • Why, yes! DYK that Shake Shack was founded as a way to fund Madison Square Park’s upkeep and art installations? That partnership has been insanely successful. The park is beautiful and the lunch lines are long.

  • Yes, and here’s why: Small projects are an excellent way for companies to get to know us, to see how we think and work, and vice-versa. Like any relationship, business relationships develop best organically.

  • More, faster, cheaper. Digital/social media demands it. While some clients continue to need high-production, brand-building commercials, all clients now ask us for short videos and animations, most of which we produce in-house.

  • Yes. Yes. Yes, for some clients. Yes. Yes for small websites (and landing pages of course). Yes. Yes.

  • The Zoom/Teams/Webex-ified approach to work has some advantages. Like what? Well, like we now draw talent from well beyond NYC. Our clients are located across the country, and increasingly, so are we.
